Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

Today the tourism industry is mainly dominated by the interest of governments and large corporations and tends to neglect fundamental and human rights of the people affected by it. In order to ensure good governance in tourism, local people have to be empowered to participate in decision making when it comes to tourism development and economic opportunities arising from this development. Effective and transparent monitoring mechanism need to be established at local, national and global level in order to measure tourism’s effect on social and economic development. Businesses need to monitor and take responsibility for their impacts.
